Here is a brief insight to some of our most recent projects;
Belgrave Sands Hotel, Torquay
Belgrave Sands hotel - Refurbishment & Upgrading of the Former Kistor Hotel to Provide New 50 Bedroom Hotel. Since completion, the hotel has been awarded a 4* Grading.
The work involved rearranging the existing hotel layout to provide a new 4 star hotel with sauna, steam room & gym facilities. All areas were re-furbished including the kitchen, swimming pool, & reception area & a new extension was built to provide a dance/entertainment area.
All walls & ceilings were re-lined & decorated, floor boarding replaced, the staircases updated & a new reception/bar/lounge area created to provide a modern environment.
All rooms had new en-suite facilities which were fully tiled.
New mechanical, plumbing & electrical installation were installed.
The work was carried out in the summer/autumn of 2016 using our own dedicated in-house workforce and approved sub contractors to a tight timescale to enable the hotel to open by the busy Christmas period.
Ottery St Mary
Ottery St Mary Church: New W.C Extension in traditional construction with stonework features to blend in with the existing church. Including re-ordering of internal aisle to form new access in existing wall.
The work involved excavating down to vault roof of underground boiler room & constructing new retaining walls, stonewalls & roof in between existing Church buttresses.
Internally studwork partitions were erected & new mechanical, plumbing & electrical installations were installed to form new male, female & accessible W.C.’s for congregation & public use. Access to the new extension was created by forming an opening in the existing Church external wall.
The work involved moving & re-locating historic stone monuments & features.
Careful excavations were necessary to plot a route for drainage across the Church graveyard to connect into the main road.
Westlawn Building, Teignmouth Community School
Teignmouth Community School, Westlawn Building: Re-roofing, new rainwater goods, soffits & fascias, internal works comprising new heating system, windows, doors, redecoration, suspended ceilings & re-ordering of existing students male & female W.C.’s to provide new unisex W.C.’s.
The main works on this project were the complete replacement of pitched & flat roofs with associated soffits, fascias & rainwater goods. These works were carried out whilst the school remained in operation. This was made possible by erecting a high level scaffold walkway at soffit level with access from our site compound by way of a temporary staircase.
During the school summer break classrooms were refurbished with new heating system, windows, doors, redecoration & suspended ceilings. The existing students male & female W.C.’s were demolished internally & re-configured to provide new unisex W.C.’s comprising a central vanity basin island unit & new WC cubicles.
New mechanical, plumbing & electrical installation were installed at the same time.
The whole project depended on close co-operation daily with the school management & maintenance teams to ensure smooth progress & keeping the students safe at all times.
